never found. Alcatraz held such notable criminals as Al Capone, Robert Franklin Stroud better known as the "Birdman of Alcatraz",
George "Machine Gun" Kelly, James "Whitey" Bulger, and Alvin "Creepy Karpis" Karpowicz .the prison was closed on March 21 1963
